School Assembly

The Junior Rooms shared their art work in assembly today. We drew cartoons the other week when the letter study was "ar" so we used those drawings to share. Check out the photo that was taken just after the assembly. If you look carefully you can see Jemma holding up her SURFER VALUE award that she was presented with during the assembly.

School Disco

Last Friday the Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed their disco in the school hall. The school council organised the whole thing with help from Ms Mora and did a fantastic job. Most children enjoyed the dancing and the people selling the food were pretty busy as well. The face painting was a treat as well.

Beach Visit

We are so lucky  to live in Sumner because today we had our Discovery at the beach. Riley, Noah, Rai and Levin made a city with 2 volcanoes. Harvey enjoyed the tug of war with seaweed. Isabel, Skye, Evie, Zoe and Amelie played a game of chase the snake but really it was only seaweed.

Tom, Harvey, Ali and Jack made the Eiffel Tower with big pieces of driftwood. Tomas and Joel made a dungeon. We put Bearemy our class bear in the dungeon. Poppy, Jemma, Manon and Jessie made a sandcastle with feathers, sticks and shells. Dan and Roddy built a big volcano with big cliffs. Everyone had a fabulous time and loved working together to create fantastic sculptures.

Happiness Day

Our very clever radio announcers put on a live show for us this morning to celebrate Happiness Day. It was a lovely sunny day to dance and sing before morning tea. Each morning we tune into Surfer Sounds to hear the latest news, interviews, our school notices and some great music. Thank you DJ's we appreciate what you do for us each morning from 8:30 to 9:00am.

Batten hockey

We were lucky today that some of our senior students taught us to play a game called Batten Hockey. The House Captains are going to run a competition later in the term for the school. It was great fun and we can't wait for some more games.

Soccer lessons

We are lucky to have Gary from mainland football visiting us each Monday to teach us football skills. He shows us skills that we need to learn and we call them names from cars. Like window wipers, red light, u turns, petrol pump and roundabouts. We are getting pretty good and are looking forward to our next few lessons.

Discovery

Our favourite time of the week is Friday morning when we have Discovery. We do it with Rooms 4 and 6 as well. We get to chose from lots of really fun things. This week we were focusing on taking turns, sharing and being fair.
